BOOM! Studios Announces Brand New Series DUNE: THE WATERS OF KANLY

Discover New Comic Book Series From the Authors of the Official Prequel to Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’ in May 2022

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 15, 2022) – BOOM! Studios today proudly announced DUNE: THE WATERS OF KANLY, a brand new four-issue comic book series expanding the rich mythology of Frank Herbert’s Dune, adapted & scripted by New York Times bestselling authors Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, illustrated by artist Francesco Mortarino (Power Rangers), colored by Raúl Angulo, and lettered by Ed Dukeshire, in partnership with Herbert Properties LLC and in full coordination with Abrams ComicArts, who published the first of a trilogy of graphic novel adaptations of Herbert’s original classic novel DUNE in Fall 2020.

Go deeper into the Dune universe with this lore-expanding story set during the events of the Frank Herbert classic! In the aftermath of the battle of Arrakeen, legendary House Atreides warmaster Gurney Halleck takes refuge with spice smugglers, vowing revenge against the Harkonnens no matter the cost.

“In the novel DUNE, Gurney Halleck works secretly among the smugglers for two years, building his hatred toward the Harkonnens,” said Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. “We loved the opportunity to explore those lost years and tell this story of his plan to avenge what they did to noble House Atreides.”

Brian Herbert is the son of legendary science fiction author Frank Herbert and has written the definitive biography of him, Dreamer of Dune, a finalist for the Hugo Award. Brian has also written many highly imaginative novels, including the Timeweb trilogy, the ecological fantasy Ocean (with his wife, Jan), The Little Green Book of Chairman Rahma, The Unborn, and The Assassination of Billy Jeeling. His earlier acclaimed novels include The Stolen Gospels, Sudanna Sudanna, and Sidney’s Comet, as well as Man of Two Worlds (written with his father). Brian has collaborated on many novels in the Dune series with Kevin J. Anderson, all of which became international bestsellers, and they also wrote the Hellhole trilogy together. They recently completed the novel Dune: The Heir of Caladan for Tor, and are also collaborating on the definitive graphic novel adaption of the novel Dune, as well as an exciting new adaptation of their collaborative novel, Dune: House Atreides, for BOOM! Studios. Brian also co-manages the legacy of Frank Herbert and is an executive producer of the new motion picture “Dune” and the forthcoming TV series “Dune: The Sisterhood.” He and his wife live in Seattle, Washington.

Kevin J. Anderson has published more than 175 books, 58 of which have been national or international bestsellers. He has written numerous novels in the Star Wars, X-Files, and Dune universes, as well as unique steampunk fantasy trilogy beginning with Clockwork Angels, written with legendary rock drummer Neil Peart. His original works include the Saga of Seven Suns series, the Wake the Dragon and Terra Incognita fantasy trilogies, the Saga of Shadows trilogy, and his humorous horror series featuring Dan Shamble, Zombie P.I. He has edited  numerous anthologies, written comics and games, and the lyrics to two rock CDs. Anderson is the director of the graduate program in Publishing at Western Colorado University. Anderson and his wife Rebecca Moesta are the publishers of WordFire Press. His most recent novels are Clockwork DestinyGods and Dragons, Dune: The Heir of Caladan (with Brian Herbert), and Slushpile Memories: How NOT to Get Rejected.

Created by visionary writer Frank Herbert, Dune debuted in 1965, has sold millions of copies and is arguably the most admired science fiction novel of all time. After winning the Hugo Award and inaugural Nebula Award, Dune inspired a best-selling novel series and led to multiple live-action adaptations, including the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures. The influence of Dune extends well beyond the world of entertainment, with an incalculable influence on modern scientific thinking about politics, religion, outer space, environmentalism, and more.

“Brian and Kevin have done it again with an in-depth look at one of the most intriguing characters in the Dune universe—Gurney Halleck—and the incredible never-before-seen journey he undertook to get justice for the House he devoted his life to,” said Dafna Pleban, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios.

DUNE: THE WATERS OF KANLY #1 features main cover art by famed illustrator Christian Ward (Something is Killing the Children) and variant covers by artists Massimo Carnevale (The Marvels, Y: The Last Man), Junggeun Yoon (Magic), and InHyuk Lee (Amazing Spider-man).

Alice Goes Beyond Wonderland in Dan Panosian’s Dark New Original Series

Discover What’s Down the Rabbit Hole in the Lush But Dangerous Fringes of
Victorian London This April 2022

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 19, 2022) – BOOM! Studios today announced ALICE EVER AFTER, a new five-issue original series from superstar artist and writer Dan Panosian (An Unkindness of Ravens, Canary), artist Giorgio Spalletta (Red Sonja: Black, White, Red), and colorist Fabiana Mascolo, a darkly surreal tale of an adult Alice as she struggles with a choice between facing her trauma in the real world, or escaping to Wonderland… for good. Available in April 2022.

Alice first visited Wonderland as a child. Now grown up, it’s become her only escape from a cold, harsh world that feels even less real—a distant family, a tormented lover, and a father with secrets he’ll do anything to protect. But in order to return to her fantasy, Alice will need something much stronger than mushrooms. . .

Cursed with a growing addiction, Alice is forced into the twisted underbelly of London and pulled ever further from reality. Is her obsession with Wonderland truly a respite, or a one-way ticket to the dreaded… ASYLUM?

Witness Wonderland brought to life as never before, set against a vibrant but menacing Victorian London, as figures from Alice’s past adventures re-emerge in surprising new ways!

Dan Panosian is an acclaimed comic book writer and artist who hails from Cleveland, Ohio and lives in Los Angeles, California. LOADED BIBLE RETURNS WITH NEW ACTION-PACKED VAMPIRE MINISERIES BLOOD OF MY BLOOD THIS MARCH

PORTLAND, Ore. 01/04/2022 — Hitting on Ash Wednesday, Loaded Bible rises from the dead with a new epic chapter from Steve Orlando (Commanders In CrisisExtreme CarnageMarauders), Tim Seeley (Hack/SlashNightwingRobins), and Giuseppe Cafaro (Suicide SquadRed Sonja) titled Blood of My Blood. The six issue miniseries event is produced by Arancia Studio—the Italian media company which worked on Mirka Andolfo’s bestselling Image Comics titles and with the surprising Deep Beyond and Commanders in Crisis—and launches from Image Comics this March.

Loaded Bible is a work that’s always been close to my heart,” said Seeley. “I’ve wanted to do more with it for a decade or more, but it was Steve Orlando who pitched me the idea that convinced me our vampire-hunting Jesus deserved a big comeback. Throw in the amazing artists at Arancia, and you’ve got a beautiful modern take on the saga of a cloned messiah and the church that bent his teachings to their will.”

Orlando added: “I’ve loved Loaded Bible since it first debuted, years ago. To me, this is what comics have always been about: exciting, provoking, and entertaining our readers! Here was a book whose headline was bound to get attention, and still will—but inside, I found a hard-hitting adventure about compassion and hope, with plenty of punches to the face along the way. For this estranged Milton student, there was no question that Jesus could be a blockbuster hero. This is grindhouse pop culture, it has been since its inception. But at its core, gonzo as it is, it’s a celebration of a lone protector at the end of the world, who risks his life every day to defend love, defend compassion, and crush hypocrisy and cruelty wherever it hides.”

In Loaded Bible: Blood of My Blood, decades after the events of the original cult series, Jesus’ vampire-hunting clone is a bigger outlaw than ever, and now, he faces a threat like no other. It’s the guardian of the forsaken versus the forsaker himself. Because this time, the church has cut a deal with the vampire nations to unite under their resurrected savior—Dracula!

“It’s amazing to be with Tim and Steve on this project!” said Cafaro. “Especially if is an ultra-violent and super fun book for Image Comics!”

Loaded Bible: Blood of My Blood #1 (Diamond Code JAN220108) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, March 2. Regular covers are illustrated by fan-favorite Mirka Andolfo, and some incredible variant covers will be announced soon.

Loaded Bible: Blood of My Blood #1 will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
