In my household life has been quiet since NYCC. Job search, continual clean up, constant post mom cleaning, just trying to stay on top of everything that is life.
We’ve had some major passings in the celebrity and pop-culture world. While for most Sir Patrick Stewart, he of Shakespeare, American Dad and so much was the greatest loss, the month of October was hit hard as many legends went as time moves on, but other losses were definitely before their time.
In no particular order: Tom Skeritt (of Film & TV), Mike Ditka (a football legend who because a household name to non fans of FB), Stephen Raoul Jones (video artist), Eva Marie Saint (absolute legend), Matt Howarth (one of my personal favorite comic creators), Jim Bakker (his footprint is undeniable), Murakami Ryū (novelist, notable for penning what became Takeshi Miike’s Audition, a very influential horror), Michael Gray (turned 28 episodes of superhero camp into legend), RJ Mitte (notable actor), Barbara Barrie (noted actor stage & screen), Elke Sommer (60s and 70s Europe stunner), Susan Saint James (TV legend), Eric Bauza (voice actor who is now legend cut down in his prime), Walter Koenig (Chekov could easily be considered more important to the Trekverse than many). There were more internationally and throughout fields but these were names and accolades P-CS resonated with.
As it has been almost a month since the last Nerd Notes I won’t be sharing every trailer, music video, etc. that has caught my attention but a good smattering. Things that happened in October of note were THANK YOU BUS DRIVER from Double Fine released, the Casper Kelly horror comedy BUDDY was released digitally, the Mike Flanagan series adaptation of CARRIE came out to much love and was renewed, CRYSTAL LAKE was also a quality original based on Franchise series and I do hope it is renewed. VISION QUEST has been fascinating and I really look forward to seeing how it ties everything to be a proper finale to a trilogy. Been enjoying the new seasons of NCIS and NCIS: ORIGINS as well.
