Nerd Notes 10/4/2026

NYCC 2026 is going to be here before we know it. My schedule isn’t finalized. It’ll probably change on the fly even. That’s still 4 days away though.

Between the last Nerd Notes and now we have had some seriously tragic passings as well as cult legends. The wrestling industry lost Benjamin “PAC” Slattery, Canada’s Eddie Osbourne, and msot recently NY/NJ indie “legend” Metal Maniac. Painting Legend Peter Max, actor Gerrit Graham (most famous to me as BEEF in Phantom of the Paradise), Duncan Sheik, Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory, actor Dennis Haskins, were personal stand outs, but many more occured in various facets of pop-culture and I am sure more will come.

This week I prepared for Comic Con in my own way with two big days. On eday I went to the Javits Center for a very small show of the White Label Expo. I did networking and tried to get my name out there for marketing expansion beyond. From Javits I walked around Hudson Yards, then down the High Line to Chelsea Market, taking my time along the way doing shopping and taking photos. On Friday I hit up three super exciting pop-ups that were immersive marketing experiences with activities and giveaways. Very comic con like. The first was Newport Beach Club which took place in four different locations set up as if you were doing a day in Newport Beach California. At location 1 you got a photo, a drink, and stickers, location 2 had a beach and taffy, at location 3 there was food and some cool visions and the final location had a ball pit and bath salts. After that was the Angry Orchard x Scream 30th Anniversary which was set up like a video store, they gave full cans of Angry Orchard (unfortunately they had to be drunk there), special flavored popcorn, a photobooth with Ghostface and you randomly got one of various giveaways. The final stop was Tidy Cats – Special Litter Unit, at this activation you got training to be an agent in SLU via identification, getting a portrait of your pet, meeting cats up for adoption and trying to climb through a yarn maze. Kumal Nanjiani greeted you via video at the door. At the end you recveived a mug or a tie and collar for your pet and coupon for litter. These 3 pop ups along with also stopping for food, seeing some live mural painting and visiting the graffiti alley made for the kind of day that has me super excited for next week.

AND NOW the Nerd Notes, first up Movie and TV Trailers.

NYCC will have this show with a major show floor presence and a Empire stage panel. The entire thing drops on Peacock on October 15th.
Before we have a chance to really start missing Gamechanger, the new season Make Some Noise begins tomorrow.
This is just part 1. A greateaser to make you want to watch the show. Also it’s Malina Weissman! (who really isn’t a teen anymore but whatever)

A LITTLE SOMETHING ELSE

You may or may not know that I’m a MEOW WOLF fanatic even with only getting to go to two of the soon to be six and then quickly seven locations as well as a cartoon and a TTRPG (which I was on the Kickstarter for). Here’s some footage of location six.

Here’s a brand new Pixar short!

And I learned of this video from The Endless Adventure vlog about Virgin Voyages. This cartoon is awesome even if yoi never end up on a cruise ship.

AND NOW MUSIC! an ecelctic selection of new stuff.

Video directed by Owen Kline.
Excellent puppet fabrication and animation.
The three videos edited together into one. Tree Forever.
Alexander Skarsgård IS Mr. Charm.
