JAGGED LITTLE PILL is an exhilarating new musical inspired by the themes and raw emotions laid bare in Alanis Morissette’s seminal album of the same name. The Healys appear to be a picture-perfect suburban family — but looks can be deceiving. When the cracks beneath the surface begin to show, they must choose between maintaining the status quo or facing harsh truths about themselves, their community, and the world around them. “Urgent, wildly entertaining, and wickedly funny in all the right places” (The Boston Globe), this original story is ignited by Morissette’s groundbreaking music – including such hits as “You Oughta Know,” “Head Over Feet,” “Hand In My Pocket,” and “Ironic” – plus brand-new songs written for the show. Hailed by The New York Times as “a big-hearted musical that breaks the mold,”JAGGED LITTLE PILL “takes on the good work we are always asking new musicals to do: the work of singing about real things.”

Atlantic Records has partnered with JAGGED LITTLE PILL for the release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording, adding the production to the label’s elite roster of Grammy Award-winning artists and cast albums.

The world premiere production of JAGGED LITTLE PILL ran for 79 sold-out performances, from May 5 – July 15, 2018, at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA. The 10-week engagement marked the longest- running and highest-grossing production in the theater’s history. Variety declared the musical“Triumphant! Not since Rent has a musical invested so many bravura roles with so much individual life.” BuzzFeed described the show as “stirring, breathtaking and exceptionally relevant…work this ambitious broadens our perspective of what theater can do.” NPR declared, “Morissette’s anthems are now for the ages. Visually interpreted in Jagged Little Pill with an absorbing intimacy and ingenuity, they reach down to our deepest raw selves, regardless of who we are.”

Released on June 13, 1995, the tremendous success of Alanis Morissette’s album Jagged Little Pill skyrocketed her to become the bestselling international debut artist in history; a title she still holds, with the record’s sales reaching 33 million copies worldwide. Nearly 25 years after its release, Jagged Little Pill continues to be one of the Top 20 Best-Selling Albums of All Time. With nine eclectic and acclaimed albums released over the subsequent twenty years, Morissette’s music has garnered 7 Grammy Awards (with 14 nominations), a Golden Globe nomination, and total sales of over 60 million albums.

The JAGGED LITTLE PILL creative team includes Tony-nominated Scenic DesignerRiccardo Hernandez (Parade); Costume Designer Emily Rebholz (Dear Evan Hansen); Tony-nominated Lighting Designer Justin Townsend (Moulin Rouge!); Tony-nominated Sound Designer Jonathan Deans (Waitress); and Tony-winning Video & Projection Designer Finn Ross (Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night-Time). The production features additional music by Michael Farrell & Guy Sigsworth. Production Stage Management is by Ira Mont (The Producers).

MADDIE ROSS SHARES NEW VIDEO “LIV TYLER”

P-CS absolutely loved this song and video. Worth your time!

EARLY ’00s POPULAR MEDIA REINCARNATED WITH INCLUSIVITY

DEBUT ALBUM NEVER HAVE I EVER OUT MAY 10 ON SENTIMENTAL RECORDS

New York, NY (May 3, 2019) – Maddie Ross understands the importance of creating authentic music, and the necessity of visible, queer role models. Today, she releases new video “Liv Tyler” – enjoy and share via Youtube – a pop anthem off her debut, full-length album, Never Have I Ever, out May 10 via Sentimental Records. FLOOD Magazine declares, “With radio-ready production values that mirror bubblegum pop rock, ‘Liv Tyler’ does the titular actress—not to mention her Empire Records character, Corey Mason—proud.”

The “Liv Tyler” video sees Maddie flipping through channels of MTV/VH1/Rom-Com content from her youth, but in her fantasy, all of the clips are queer, diverse, and inclusive. Throughout Maddie’s channel surfing, she comes across an alternate version of the movie She’s All That, only it’s a reverse-makeover into a nerd, and the love interest is a woman. She also flips past an episode of MTV’s Room Raiders (only the host is gender-queer and the contestants are all bisexual), a gay Coca-Cola commercial on the beach, and an interracial lesbian Polly Pocket advertisement. Maddie even sees herself being interviewed on VH1 Behind The Music, and getting Nickelodeon-slimed

The video concept came from director Zach Siegel, after he and Maddie each reflected on their coming out experiences, the internalized homophobia they had to overcome, and the way media influenced these perceptions by telling them they weren’t normal. The lyrics to “Liv Tyler” depict a female fantasizing about being the girl from the movies, but also struggling to see herself in them. It is 2000s popular media reincarnated in the body of late 2010’s inclusivity.

Never Have I Ever bursts at the seams with energy, humor, infectious melodies, confessional lyrics, and abundant references to some of the best hits and movie synchs of the ’90s and ’00s. Yet, while each song is heavily inspired by specific movie scenes, the lyrical content is much more personal. Most of the movies referenced are devoid of the anguish, self-discovery, and eventual pride embedded in the adolescent queer love experience. As Ross puts it, “Never Have I Ever is inspired by a variety of movies, but the story it tells follows a plot of its own. In our wildest fantasies, someone would write an adorable girl-meets-girl rom com, and use the entire album as a score.”

Never Have I Ever was made entirely by women, produced by Maddie’s longtime girlfriend Wolfy and co-written between the couple. It follows Ross’ most recent release, the Touch Hands, Touch Bodies EP, which debuted atBlackBook and was #25 on Billboard staff’s 25 Best Rock Albums of 2018, earning Maddie their title of, “The Best DIY Rock Star You’ve Never Heard Of”. Ross will tour in support of Never Have I Ever in May of 2019, once again opening for KT Tunstall on a run of East Coast dates, listed below.

“On behalf of my Femme Magnifique co-curators, Brian and Kristy Miller, over 100 of your favorite writers and artists, and IDW, I’m honored to be in such magnificent company,” says Black Crown curator/editor Shelly Bond. “Congrats to all the Eisner nominees, especially the Laphams, who continue to crush our expectations of crime noir.”

Scott Dunbier, IDW’s Director of Special Projects, says, “Bill Sienkiewicz’s Mutants and Moon Knightscharts Bill’s evolution through different stages of his career. Watching him progress from a talented new artist to a true innovator is fascinating to behold — it was an honor to work on this book, and to be nominated for an Eisner Award.”

Chris Ryall, IDW’s Publisher & President/CCO and editor on the nominated Madman Quarter Century Shindig book, added, “To directly quote Madman creator Michael Allred when notified about the nomination, this is Super Ginchy! It’s a thrill to see such diverse nominations for IDW’s equally wide-ranging output.”

Your First Look at ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON #5 by Olivia Olson and Slimm Fabert

This comic is cooler and cooler with each issue. BOOM!’s AT continuance is so good.

Discover The Future of Your Favorite Vampire Queen & Former Ice King in May 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 23, 2019) – BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network today revealed a first look at ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON #5 (of 6). Writer Olivia Olson (voice of Marceline, Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time™) and artist Slimm Fabert (Adventure Time™ comic series) bring fans the exciting official comic book continuation by revealing what’s next for the once immortal Simon and the still immortal Vampire Queen Marceline in comic book form.

Marcy and Simon’s friendship has endured over 900 years and through bouts of insanity and amnesia so there’s no way that friendship ends now, right? Not if Marcy, Jake, and Finn have got anything to say about it! Looks like saving Betty from the Golb is the key to saving Simon’s memories and his sanity but they’ll have to search the centers of chaos in each dimension to find her. It’s time to travel to the farthest outer reaches of space and the deepest recesses of the universe to save Betty and Simon once more.

A modern-day fable, the critically-acclaimed Adventure Time became a global success, attracting adult and kid viewers alike over the course of 10 seasons. It follows unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants. The best of friends, our heroes always find themselves in the middle of heart-pounding escapades. Finn, a silly kid with an awesome hat and Jake, a brassy dog with a big kind heart, depend on each other through thick and thin. Adventure Time™ was created by Pendleton Ward and produced at Cartoon Network Studios.

BOOM! Studios has been publishing the New York Times bestselling Adventure Time comic books and graphic novels through their KaBOOM! imprint for middle grade readers since 2012 and been honored with Eisner, Harvey, and Diamond Gem Awards for the series.

ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON is Olson’s third writing contribution to the expanded literary world of the eponymous franchise, previously collaborating with her father Martin Olson (the voice of “Hunson Abadeer”) on The Adventure Time™ Encyclopedia. The two also co-authored Adventure Time™: The Enchiridion & Marcy’s Super Secret Scrapbook, written from a first-person perspective through Marceline’s diary entries about when she and Simon first met. Both Adventure Timebooks, published in partnership between Abrams and Cartoon Network, are available now everywhere books are sold.

“Simon’s life has been tragic in many ways but the brightest spots have always been the love he has for his chosen family of Marceline and Betty, and hopefully that’ll be what saves him in the end.” said Matthew Levine, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Olivia and Slimm raise the stakes impossibly high in this penultimate issue by taking us all the way across time and space to confront Simon’s final regret: losing the love of his life to the Golb.”

ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON #5 features a main cover by Brittney Williams (Goldie Vance), along with variant covers by artists Danielle Chuatico and Jamie Loughran.

ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning KaBOOM! imprint, home to comics for middle grade and younger readers including licensed series such as Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Regular Show, Ben 10, and Over The Garden Wall, along with original series like Just Beyond: The Scare School by R.L. Stine and Kelly & Nichole Matthews, Hex Vet by Sam Davies, RuinWorld by Derek Laufman,  Hotel Dare by Terry Blas and Claudia Aguirre, and Pandora’s Legacy by Kara Leopard, Kelly & Nichole Matthews.
