June 3, 2019 – New York, NY – Today, comiXology, Amazon’s premier digital comics service and Queer Comix announced that The Pride Season Two – an all-new, six issue comic book series spinning out of writer Joe Glass’ acclaimed LGBTQ+ super hero series The Pride – will debut as part of the comiXology Originals program, June 5th, just in time for Pride month. Additionally, the acclaimed indie hits, The Pride Season One and The Pride Adventures Season One, also join comiXology Originals. The Pride is the first Submit series comiXology has invested in to continue through comiXology Originals, making these amazing stories available to a new worldwide audience.

The Pride Season Two #1, written by Joe Glass and illustrated by Cem Iroz with colors by Mark Dale and letters by Mike Stock, as well as The Pride Season One and The Pride Adventures Season One will be digitally available to read for members of Prime Reading, Kindle Unlimited, and comiXology Unlimited, and available for purchase on Kindle and comiXology upon release, June 5th. All of The Pride will be available in print via Amazon.com at the same time as The Pride Season Two collected edition release.

In The Pride Season Two you’ll join an amazing cast of heroes who united to form a team comprised entirely of LGBTQ+ crime fighters in bright and fun action-packed adventures that any super hero fan can enjoy. The team returns with exciting new adventures where they must stop a nuclear meltdown, welcome new heroes, and investigate a spate of mysterious attacks on the world’s biggest pop star.

“I began The Pride because I want to tell stories where queer characters and stories are not only told through metaphor, analogy and subtext, but are open, accessible and show a diversity of life not usually seen in the medium,” says writer Joe Glass.

“We’ve been big fans of The Pride since it debuted through comiXology Submit in 2014,” said Chip Mosher, comiXology’s Head of Content. “We are excited about the future of The Pride and so have taken steps to invest in it and have it continue as a comiXology Originals title. It’s fantastic to be able to pick up a series that debuted on Submit and help extend its reach to a broader worldwide audience.”

In a world populated by people with superpowers, FabMan (Tomorrow’s Fabulous Man, Today) feels a deep schism in the representation of his community and his own heroic exploits, which are often presented as fluff pieces in the news. Wanting to fight for change, he forms The Pride, the world’s premier LGBTQ+ supergroup – featuring a diverse range of characters representative of the broad LGBTQ+ spectrum, from gay, lesbian, bi and trans superheroes to non-binary, drag queen, HIV+, children of gay parents, and more. Together they fight to protect the world from prejudice, misrepresentation, and injustice, not to mention a pesky supervillain or two!

The Pride was one of the best-selling comiXology Submit releases of 2014, garnering acclaim from noted comic book writers:

“I highly recommend this smart, charming, wonderful book to anyone who likes good comics. It’s absolutely a pleasure to read and a clear labor of love.” – Gail SimoneBatgirl, Leaving Megalopolis, Clean Room

“Old-school and progressive at the same time. Classic, high-energy superhero action that gives the queer community the heroes they’ve always deserved.” – Steve Orlando, MidnighterVirgil

The Pride Season Two #1, The Pride Season One and The Pride Adventures Season One will all debut as part of the comiXology Originals line of exclusive digital content, making these series available to a greater worldwide audience, starting June 5th. The Pride Season One, collectsThe Pride #1-6, with bonus content including art from Gavin Mitchell (Stiffs, Santa vs. The Nazis) and Samir Barrett, with The Pride Adventures Season One collecting The Pride Adventures #1-4. These debuting series will be available to read digitally for members of Prime Reading, Kindle Unlimited, and comiXology Unlimited and will also be available for sale on comiXology and Kindle. And for the first time since its successful Kickstarter campaign, The Pride Season One and The Pride Adventures Season One will be available in print, via Amazon.com, joiningThe Pride Season Two in print once all six issues are collected.

Your First Look at ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON #6 by Olivia Olson and Slimm Fabert

This Slimm Fabert art is absolutely enticing.

Discover The Future of Your Favorite Vampire Queen & Former Ice King in June 2019

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 29, 2019) – BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network today revealed a first look at ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON #6 (of 6). Writer Olivia Olson (voice of Marceline, Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time™) and artist Slimm Fabert (Adventure Time™ comic series) bring fans the final issue of the exciting official comic book continuation by revealing what’s next for the once immortal Simon and the still immortal Vampire Queen Marceline in comic book form.

Marcy and Simon’s friendship has endured over 900 years and through bouts of insanity and amnesia so there’s no way that friendship ends now, right? Everything comes to a head as Marcy, Simon, Jake, Finn, and BMO venture forth to confront the Golb version of Betty in order to save Simon’s memories and his life, while Marcy’s dad Hunson continues to interfere from the Nightosphere. No matter how tough the going gets, though, Marcy gets tougher and she lays everything on the line for her closest friend in this shocking conclusion to this epic story about the centuries-old connection between Simon Petrikov and Marceline the Vampire Queen.

A modern-day fable, the critically-acclaimed Adventure Time became a global success, attracting adult and kid viewers alike over the course of 10 seasons. It follows unlikely heroes Finn and Jake, buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants. The best of friends, our heroes always find themselves in the middle of heart-pounding escapades. Finn, a silly kid with an awesome hat and Jake, a brassy dog with a big kind heart, depend on each other through thick and thin. Adventure Time™ was created by Pendleton Ward and produced at Cartoon Network Studios.

BOOM! Studios has been publishing the New York Times bestselling Adventure Time comic books and graphic novels through their KaBOOM! imprint for middle grade readers since 2012 and been honored with Eisner, Harvey, and Diamond Gem Awards for the series.

ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON is Olson’s third writing contribution to the expanded literary world of the eponymous franchise, previously collaborating with her father Martin Olson (the voice of “Hunson Abadeer”) on The Adventure Time™ Encyclopedia. The two also co-authored Adventure Time™: The Enchiridion & Marcy’s Super Secret Scrapbook, written from a first-person perspective through Marceline’s diary entries about when she and Simon first met. Both Adventure Timebooks, published in partnership between Abrams and Cartoon Network, are available now everywhere books are sold.

ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON #6 features a main cover by Brittney Williams (Goldie Vance), along with variant covers by artists Jamie Loughran and Amelia Vidal.

ADVENTURE TIME™: MARCY & SIMON is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ award-winning KaBOOM! imprint, home to comics for middle grade and younger readers including licensed series such as Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Regular Show, Ben 10, and Over The Garden Wall, along with original series like Just Beyond: The Scare School by R.L. Stine and Kelly & Nichole Matthews, Hex Vet by Sam Davies, RuinWorld by Derek Laufman,  Hotel Dare by Terry Blas and Claudia Aguirre, and Pandora’s Legacy by Kara Leopard, Kelly & Nichole Matthews.

Once Upon a Time in the West: Shooting a Masterpiece

Foreword by Quentin Tarantino. Text by Christopher Frayling. Photographs by Angelo Novi.

“Once Upon a Time in the West” was the movie that made me consider filmmaking.” Quentin Tarantino

Sergio Leone’s film Once Upon a Time in the West set out to be the ultimate Western—a celebration of the power of classic Hollywood cinema, a meditation on the making of America and a lament for the decline of one of the most cherished film genres in the form of a “dance of death.” With this film, Leone said a fond farewell to the noisy and flamboyant world of the Italian Western, which he had created with A Fistful of Dollars and sequels, and aimed for something much more ambitious—an exploration of the relationship between myth (“Once Upon a Time…”), history (“…in the West”) and his own autobiography as an avid film-goer. This would be a horse opera in which the arias aren’t sung, they are stared. Once Upon a Time has since inspired several generations of filmmakers worldwide. Its combination of “film about film” with an angry historical epic, told with great style, has resonated for half a century, and its reputation has steadily grown. This book, by the world-renowned authority on Sergio Leone, Christopher Frayling, includes revealing personal interviews with all the key players involved in the movie (in front of the camera and behind it), a wealth of never-before-published documents, designs and photographs, and the latest research into the making of a masterpiece, shot by shot. It is introduced with a foreword by Quentin Tarantino. This year is the 50th anniversary of Once Upon a Time in the West and this richly illustrated book is a suitably spectacular birthday tribute.

Christopher Frayling is a world-renowned authority on the films of Sergio Leone. He has written Leone’s biography, curated a major world-touring exhibition on his work, published the classic study of the spaghetti western phenomenon and provided commentaries to Leone DVDs and television documentaries. Now he turns his attention to the making of Leone’s masterpiece. Frayling is an award-winning broadcaster and writer on film, design and popular culture. He was Rector of London’s Royal College of Art from 1996 to 2009, and was also Chairman of the Arts Council of England and a Governor of the British Film Institute. He was Professor of Cultural History at the RCA for over 30 years and is now Professor Emeritus. Christopher was knighted in the year 2000 for “services to art and design education.” As Sergio Leone once said to him, “it took an Englishman to take my films seriously…”

“Frayling, the world’s leading Leone expert, has amassed photographs, posters, production sketches and more, and Leone fan Quentin Tarantino has written the introduction to this impressive volume.”
—Kenneth Turan

DAREDEVIL WRITER CHIP ZDARSKY TEAMS UP WITH RUNAWAYS ARTISTS KRIS ANKA & MATT WILSON FOR AN ALL-NEW FANTASY MINISERIES, THE WHITE TREES

This series looks gorgeous and Chip doing anything from his own mind separated from established stuff is always the best.

PORTLAND, Ore. 05/24/2019 — Image Comics is pleased to announce that the critically-acclaimed Daredevil writer Chip Zdarsky and beloved Runaways artists Kris Anka and Matt Wilson will team up for a tautly-woven, eye-popping new fantasy miniseries, The White Trees. The series will be comprised of two oversized issues—which will tell a complete story—with the The White Trees #1 hitting shelves this August.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be working with Kris and Matt again!” bellowed Zdarsky. “Are they thrilled to be working with me again? It really doesn’t matter as I tricked them into signing a contract by using the words ‘hot fantasy.’ Legally, they have to illustrate this tale of fraught relationships forged in war and the complexities of fatherhood.

“Or suffer the consequences.”

The White Trees is set in the fantastical world of Blacksand, where peace was hard-won, and three unbending warriors carry the scars to prove it. Now, almost twenty years later, their children are missing and war is on the horizon. Can they put aside their memories of the war—and each other—for one last adventure?

Anka added: “This book has everything: action, suspense, romance, Daddies.”

The White Trees #1 (Diamond Code JUN190031) will hit comic shops on Wednesday, August 14. The final order cutoff deadline for retailers is Monday, July 22.

Game set for Nintendo Switch launch – Expansion to be released on July 30th – New playable mutant announced – The expansion to the award-winning tactical adventure game picks up where the original game ended and introduces a new playable character, Big Khan the Moose.

OSLO, Norway – May 23rd, 2019 – Hours of gameplay, new locations to visit and a new leading character await fans of the award-winning tactical adventure game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, as Funcom and The Bearded Ladies today announce the upcoming expansion Seed of Evil.

The turn-based tactical adventure game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden received critical acclaim for its gameplay, artwork and captivating characters. Set in post-apocalyptic Sweden, the player controls a group of mutants searching through the ruins of civilization for salvation or simply something to eat. Using a mixture of stealth and combat strategy, while evolving your characters through a series of interesting mutations, is paramount to overcoming the evil that is threatening to eradicate what is left of decent society.

A new menace is looming in the expansion. Powerful and ominous roots have emerged and seem to be taking control over the minds of friends and foes alike. Fortunately, a new hero has arrived, and players can now add Big Khan the moose to their squad of mutants. He is not only skilled at landing critical hits but comes with the unique mutations Ground Pound and Flame Puke, giving the option to apply a more diverse playstyle in order to succeed.

The expansion and the retail release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch was originally set to release on June 25th. The new release date is now July 30th. The expansion and the full game will also be available digitally on all platforms.

PC gamers can preorder the expansion on Steam later today for $ 14.99 (pricing may differ across territories). A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be released today on Steam, consisting of both the original game and the upcoming expansion. The Deluxe Edition will also be available in retail.

From the stellar creative team of writer Sam Maggs (Marvel: Fearless and Fantastic! Female Super Heroes Save the World), artist Sweeney Boo (My Little Pony), and colorist Brittany Peer, the first thrilling chapter hits stores in August!

Carol Danvers’ quiet night with BFF Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman) takes a catastrophic turn when Manhattan’s bodegas are suddenly overrun by a host of angry felines! And not just any felines—Flerkens, the most terrifying, pocket-dimension-holding, tentacle-devouring kitty-look-alikes in the entire universe! Can Captain Marvel overcome the formidable foes before it’s too late?

“I feel so privileged to help launch Captain Marvel’s solo title for Marvel Action,” says Sam Maggs. “Carol has always been my favorite super hero; I love how she’s truly come into her own, culturally, and is finally being widely-recognized as the star that she is. Being able to write for Carol is the most exciting and terrifying thing that’s ever happened to me. I can’t wait to share this arc with everyone!”

Sweeney Boo says, “This comic is for everyone! If you have seen Captain Marvel’s movie and want more of her, and if you are a cat lover, this is definitely for you. This title has everything – it’s funny and sweet, it has powerful moments, and it’s absolute cat madness!”

In Marvel Action, we’re also highlighting the strength of her friendship with Jessica Drew, and it’s been such a positive, uplifting experience bringing this rock-solid bond between two absolutely amazing ladies to life.”
