Humble Summer Adventure Games Bundle launches today to support type 1 diabetes research

Humble Summer Adventure Games Bundle

A percentage of all bundle sales will support JDRF, a global nonprofit that funds type 1 diabetes (T1D) research in pursuit of new treatments — and, ultimately, new cures — for an autoimmune disease that affects up to 38M people worldwide.

This cause is personal to Dan Connors, who founded Telltale in 2004 and has a 12-year-old son who lives with T1D. Dan crossed paths with JDRF in 2017 when he selected the charity as one of the beneficiaries of a Humble Bundle that went on to raise over $1.6M. He has since taken on a volunteer lead role with JDRF’s Game2Give initiative, helping to identify fundraising opportunities within the game industry and to build a community of game developers and players with T1D connections.

“Since COVID-19 has all but shut down in-person fundraising, this bundle is critical in ensuring JDRF’s important work can continue,” Dan says. “I’m grateful to Skybound and to the new owners of Telltale for bringing The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and Batman together again, as well as to Night School Studio and Inkle for offering their brilliant games in support of JDRF. And to everyone who pitches in to help fund the research that will someday allow my son and millions of others to live free of the burden of type 1 diabetes, thank you!”

Starting this Friday, JDRF will feature several games from the Humble Summer Adventure Games Bundle on their Twitch channel (http://www.twitch.tv/jdrf) with help from content creators AverageSiegeDarkInsanitiesCalebratedGamer, and MissRogueFlame. All four have connections to type 1 diabetes and were among the 60+ participants in JDRF’s inaugural livestream fundraising event, which took place over a week in November 2019 and raised about $37k for T1D research. JDRF Game2Give’s next big Twitch fundraiser is scheduled for August 7-16.

About Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, called beta cells. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D, and — at present — nothing you can do to get rid of it.

CD PROJEKT RED, Studio Trigger, and Netflix Come Together For Global Anime ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’

The 10-episode series by Studio Trigger will release in 2022

CD PROJEKT RED, Studio Trigger, and Netflix announce an all new original anime series CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS set in the same universe as the upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077. The series will premiere in 2022.


CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk. 

CD PROJEKT RED, the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, is producing the series, with a creative team formed of talent from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077. The team at CD PROJEKT RED has been working on this new series since 2018.

Acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger, will serve as the animation studio on the series and bring the world of Cyberpunk to life with their signature, vibrant style. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with assistant director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designers Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch AcademiaBNA: Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare).

The original score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).

“We are so excited to finally reveal that we are working on an anime in the Cyberpunk world,” said Adam Badowski, Cyberpunk 2077 Game Director and CD PROJEKT RED Head of Studio. “We’ve devoured just about all the cyberpunk fiction there is to watch, read, and play; it’s a genre that leaves so much room for creativity, and has had such a strong influence on us. Capricia Productions Proudly Announces Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) Joins the Metal Video Game “Of Bird and Cage”

JERUSALEM, June 24th 2020 – Capricia Productions games studio is excited to announce the joining of Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) to the game “Of Bird and Cage“, which is currently under development. Danny will be performing the vocal parts for the character Ari who is in a romantic relationship with the game’s protagonist Gitta, voiced by Kobra Paige from Kobra and the Lotus.

“Of Bird and Cage” is the first rock/metal album completely produced as a story-driven narrative video game, aspiring to establish a new gaming genre of interactive musicals. The project features an array of other well-known musicians like Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses) Rob van der Loo (Epica), Ruud Jolie (Within Temptation), Casey Grillo (Kamelot), Rocky Grey (ex-Evanescence) and many others.

Danny’s vocal parts have already been recorded, and Capricia’s development team believes that he has introduced a whole new level of complexity to the character, who is one of the most challenging roles within the game. “It was an absolute honor to work with Danny. He is a professional, and he understood that in this case, he was not just singing a “normal” vocal line, but voicing a complicated character, who already has his own personality and voice. We believe Danny not only captured Ari perfectly, but also added his own personality to the character and made him even more interesting“, says Arnold Nesis, Capricia’s CEO and music composer/producer.

There is still no official release date for “Of Bird and Cage”, but we can reveal that the game is coming very soon and we are planning to make it available no later than early 2021. However, gamers can already wishlist “Of Bird and Cage” on Steam. The game will also be available on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.

Regarding his participation, Danny said “We’ve had a lot of fun making this – it’s an entirely new approach, an entirely new concept and a way to absorb the video game platform that I believe you guys are going to enjoy. The epicenter of the DC FanDome is the Hall of Heroes, where you can experience special programming, panels and content reveals from a wide variety of films, TV series and games, available in several languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.  From there, navigate deeper into the DC Multiverse, exploring five additional satellite worlds, each with its own localized content and unique activities and one world fully devoted to our younger fans:

  • DC WatchVerse: Here’s where you grab a seat, sit back and join our virtual audience and become completely engrossed in hours of must-see content from around the world.  Everything from panels and exclusive screenings to never-before-seen footage, featuring cast, creators and behind-the-scenes crew from across DC Films, TV, Home Entertainment and Games.
  • DC YouVerse: Venture into this world where the FANS are the stars to see the most amazing user-generated content, cosplay and fan art from around the world, including, perhaps, your own.
  • DC KidsVerse: Need a way to entertain your kids for hours on end?  We’ve got you covered inside a special world, which can be accessed directly at DCKidsFanDome.com. This area features a broad range of family-friendly activations for our younger fans.
  • DC InsiderVerse: This creativity-based world contains a centerpiece video featuring legendary artist and DC CCO/Publisher Jim Lee, President of DC-Based Film Production Walter Hamada, and creator of the DC TV Arrowverse, Executive Producer Greg Berlanti, welcoming fans with a 101-style introduction to the DC Multiverse.  From there, go behind the scenes with the master artisans who bring DC to life in all its forms, from comic books to games, TV, movies, theme parks, consumer products and more.
  • DC FunVerse: Take your DC FanDome experience and gather cool shareables; check out our comic book reader; DIY cool WW84 Golden Armor and Batmobile kits; plus digital giveaways and a store filled with merchandise, including some limited-edition exclusives.

Pull Up to the Blerd & Boujee House
Where my Blerds at?  The second annual celebration of Black nerd culture returns with the all-new Blerd & Boujee House at DC FanDome, bringing Blerds, LatinxGeeks and all nerds “party-with-a-purpose” vibes.  As anyone lucky enough to get into the first-ever Blerd & Boujee boat party (featuring DJ D-Nice) at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 can attest, fans will not want to miss connections and conversations designed for the culture.

Calling All Fans!
There’s nothing more important to DC than our fans, and we want to showcase you!  In partnership with Talenthouse, DC FanDome today launched a call for your best DC Fan Art & Fandom displays.  Show us your cosplay, makeup, tattoos and even your own Batcave!  Be sure to submit your best at create.DCFanDome.com for a chance to be featured inside this virtual world event, and demonstrate to people in your home country and across the globe that you are the ultimate DC Super Fan.  Selected artists on the day of our event will be voted on by the community in each of our two competitions in order to help our judges pick selected artist winners.  Selected artist winners will receive part of a cash prize pool courtesy of DC and Talenthouse.*
