MEGASTAR ARTIST JORGE CORONA JOINS DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON’S TRANSFORMERS FOR SECOND STORY ARC

The Energon Universe Continues With the Next Chapter in the Story April 2024

“Emotional, heart-wrenching, action-packed, somber and exciting all at once… A blend of pure greatness that continues to prove this take is more than meets the eye. – AIPT Comics

“TRANSFORMERS continues to wow with one jaw-dropping issue after another. The series has lived up to the hype and more.” – Lotusland Comics

LOS ANGELES 01/11/2024 — Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, revealed that Eisner Award-nominated artist Jorge Corona (Middlewest) will join Daniel Warren Johnson’s TRANSFORMERS as series artist, for the second story arc. The next arc of the smash hit series kicks off with issue #7, which will be available on shelves in comic book shops April 10, 2024.

TRANSFORMERS #7 will continue the Energon Universe and the all-new era of the iconic TRANSFORMERS franchise from writer (and current series artist) Daniel Warren Johnson (ExtremityDo a Powerbomb) and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon). Following what promises to be an epic end to the first story arc with the upcoming TRANSFORMERS #5 and #6, Jorge Corona joins to begin the Energon Universe story that will have everyone talking.

“It’s a rare breed of artist that can naturally bring an organic quality to things that are inherently mechanical, and Jorge is one of those chosen few,” said Daniel Warren Johnson. “Prepare your eyes for a feast of brawn and beauty, my friends. This man draws a mean looking Soundwave. KA BAM!”

“It started with a ‘Do you want to work on a book with Daniel Warren Johnson?’ and just in case that wasn’t a deafening ‘YES,’ they added: ‘It’s for the TRANSFORMERS book,’” said Jorge Corona. “Growing up with TRANSFORMERS and its many iterations expanded in many ways what a cartoon could do for me. Even though it had the classic good vs. evil premise, it also added malleability to what the characters could do in that world. Betrayals, regrets, self-doubts, were all emotions that drove these characters and it added a complexity that I wasn’t familiar with in other shows. Fast forward to 30 years later and here I am seeing Daniel’s take on the franchise, rooted in his love for the original Generation One version, and it’s like reliving those childhood memories multiplied by a thousand. I am very honored and humbled to be a part of this project and cannot wait to share all of the craziness that’s coming up in the book.”

The Energon Universe officially began in June 2023 with the surprise first appearance of iconic TRANSFORMERS character Jetfire in Void Rivals #1, introducing the historic new collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher. The Energon Universe recently expanded with the launch of Duke #1, a limited series from Joshua Williamson (DC’s SupermanDark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33). Next up for the Energon Universe is the launch of Cobra Commander #1 later this month from Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana and Annalisa LeoniFans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions.

TRANSFORMERS #7 (SRP: $3.99) will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Netflix did this awesome activation out in Manilla. I would’ve loved this. Check out the graphic explaining it.

The latest Liquid Death promotion is wild, but it’s also just a long line of wild Liquid Death marketing. https://liquiddeath.com/pages/timewaster-5000
Very loosely based on the book of the same, this romantic dramedy looks charming in its storytelling technique.
Despite it being on “Fox Nation” this is just a clever and fun six part docuseries inspired by a 2006 book. The author of said book appears in pieces of the show as well which maintains its entertainment through Ackroyd, Belushi and their guests just having fun while also teaching.
Not a remake of the film but a new adaptation based on the book. Do not get confused or complain. I wish more movies based on books got new adaptations from different visionaries.
Japanese Screamo death metal pop rock. English track.
I just love this commercial.
Coming to Kickstarter soon this CGI cartoon has promise.
I also love this cartoon, and this couple is so cute.
Be very curious who other than Lionel Ritchie and Huey Lewi they talked to since that’s all the trailer shows of newly shot footage. Not sure if all this behind the scenes of the chaos has been seen before. A lot of it has, especially Dylan’s struggles, but this shows things were chaotic to get the final product.

Three very cool streaming stuff and movie trailer for one of my favorite graphic novels.

Stop motion, real celeb interviews, it’s Space Ghost CtoC almost but with the minds of Mike Judge, Zach Woods and Brandon Gardner behind the writing (and voice acting) and Shadowmachine on animation.
Weapons, Guirars, Bikes and more. Let’s see your world Jason!
This already aired on BBCOne but looks fascination in horror thriller.
Sara Varon’s graphic novel Robot Dreams was amazing, seeing it “brought to life” rules.

In Memoriam 2023: Professional Wrestling

Absolute legends, future legends, people who really made their mark and then those who truly still were making that mark. The losses of Mark Briscoe, Windham Rotunda and days before 2023 ended Mad Kurtis Chapman are losses I feel that will reverberate for a long long time to come still and I know I myself am still truly reeling having had the pleasure of Mark beating up people less 10 inches from me and having gotten to know the man behind the gimmick in Kurtis through mutual friends who I had met outside of wrestling.

A Long Final Nerd Notes for 2023

Life has been topsy and turvy as the year ends. Figuring out 2024 and what it shall be. While not posting to the website I’ve been busy on social media at Instagram and XTAFKTwitter with cat photos, some art and just loving on shows like Monarch, while enjoying wrestling, focusing SAG-AFTRA strike ending, film season and more. Here is a LONG long drop of music videos, game trailers, TV trailers, movie trailers and more I’ve truly enjoyed over the last three weeks.

I have since seen this documentary and consider it must watch viewing. Soul shattering and soul awakening at the same time.

Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson Finish the DUNE Prequel Trilogy with DUNE: HOUSE CORRINO from BOOM! Studios

Just ahead of Dune Part II’s release, the final prequel in the House Trilogy arrives in comic shops!

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 13, 2023) – BOOM! Studios today proudly announced DUNE: HOUSE CORRINO, a brand new 33-page, oversized, eight-issue, comic book series expanding the rich mythology of Frank Herbert’s Dune.

The third and final official prequel to Dune is adapted for the first time by award-winning novelists Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and artist Simone Ragazzoni (Power Rangers Universe), colorist Dan Jackson (The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys), and letterer Ed Dukeshire (The Woods), unveiling a closer look at the rising conflict between beloved characters and bitter villains and available in stores March 2024.

House Corrino, once the deadliest House in the known universe as the Imperial family, set up the final pieces leading into the events of Dune and the fall of House Atreides.

While conflicts escalate between the Fremen and House Harkonnen on Arrakis, the Bene Gesserit keep a close eye on Jessica’s pregnancy, and House Atreides takes part in the plan to seal Ix’s fate…

“It’s always great to reach the grand finale. We’ve spent the last couple of years with BOOM! and our artists to develop the visual interpretation of our Prelude to Dune trilogy–ground-breaking novels that we wrote more than 20 years ago–and now that we reach the adaptation of the final volume in comic book form, we have the characters and worlds already designed and established. Now in House Corrino it’s time for everything to come together.” said Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

“I’m so excited to be part of a story written by legends like Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. I’ve been a fan of the Dune franchise ever since I was a kid when I stayed up at night to watch the David Lynch movie on TV. Having the chance to be a part of this project is still surreal to me! Brace yourselves and get ready to step into the world of Dune!” said artist Simone Ragazzoni.

“With the final story in our prequel trilogy adaptation, Brian and Kevin explore the mechanizations of the Imperial family,” said Shantel LaRocque, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios. “In a very real sense, these are the final days leading up to the tragic events of Dune. The final dominoes are being set up.”

DUNE: HOUSE CORRINO #1 features main cover art by highly acclaimed artist Raymond Swanland (Magic: The Gathering) and variant covers by artists Veronica Fish (Blackwood), and Rebeca Puebla (Dejah Thoris).

Created by visionary writer Frank Herbert, Dune debuted in 1965, has sold millions of copies and is arguably the most admired science fiction novel of all time. After winning the Hugo Award and inaugural Nebula Award, Dune inspired a best-selling novel series and led to multiple live-action adaptations, including the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures. A Highland Song (review)

Running away from home can present many challenges, but when you’re a teenage girl in the Irish isles it has even more challenges. If it’s anything like my experience in the game A Highland Song it may be beautiful, enticing, remarkable and amazing but also terrifying, distressing, confusing, and difficult.

I had two playthroughs, one in which I’m fairly sure I died twice but through an unexplained story element did not. I was three days behind on arriving at my destination but felt so close, but then suddenly I couldn’t move forward or backward. I tried but mechanics or a bug or I don’t know blocked mu continuance. This was fine as the game has so many paths and is designed for at least two playthroughs if not more.

My second playthrough is happening but I think I’m lost. I tried an entirely different path but got turned around and now I’m back at the start of it. I don’t know which way to go. I’ll never make it to my uncle’s. I’m going to die out here. Except… I can’t die? I can just learn more and more and keep going and going, which way? What do I know? What have I forgotten? What will I discover? What did I make up? This all sounds like a song… not just cause when I run fast I hear melodies and jump to the beat as best as I can, but because it’s lyrical and nonsense but lovely and mesmerizing.

I don’t know the feelings I’ve described is what A HIGHLAND SONG meant to do, but there they are and I’m glad I have them.

A Highland Song was developed by inlke studios and is available for PC on Steam and also on Nintendo Switch now!
